Education and Training

Education and training is a key part of the National Varroa Mite Management Program. Through this program, online and face to face training has been delivered nationally, along with a range of resources, to support beekeepers and pollination-reliant industries in the management of Varroa destructor.

Varroa Management face to face training

The National Varroa Mite Management Program Varroa Management and Advanced Varroa Management face to face training workshops have now been completed.

The program rolled out 121 workshops over 16 months nationwide with over 6,000 commercial and recreational beekeepers in attendance.

Online training options

If you were unable to attend one of the workshops it is not too late to learn about Varroa. There are two online training options available:

  2. Introduction to Varroa Management

Webinars

The NVMMP have delivered a series of webinars covering a range of topics for both beekeepers and the pollination dependent industries.

Do you want to deliver your own Varroa training?

The National Varroa Mite Management Program delivered over 100 workshops to beekeepers across Australia. The one day Varroa Management Workshop provided education on Varroa biology and impacts, surveillance and monitoring, integrated pest management and record keeping.

The workshop presentation and workbook are being made available to provide industry with quality resources for use in delivering their own Varroa mite management training.
