Considering leaving beekeeping?
Thousands of people across Australia love beekeeping.
However, sometimes circumstances change, and people may no longer wish to manage bees. For some beekeepers the introduction of Varroa mite has been their tipping point. For others it may be illness, finances or other change of circumstance that has made them decide to quit.
Whilst we don’t like to see anyone leave the industry, if you have decided to hang up your beesuit, there are a few obligations you must first take care of.
By ticking off these obligations, departing beekeepers are helping to protect Australia’s honey and pollination-dependent industries.
Here you’ll find all the requirements you need to undertake before leaving beekeeping.
Still not sure what the future of beekeeping may look like for you? Speaking with someone may help make the path a little clearer.
