Apistan Synthetic Pyrethroid

Apistan is a synthetic treatment for the control of Varroa destructor mites in honeybee hives.

Note:

  • This product is permitted for use in Australia.

  • It must be used in accordance with the permit conditions, which over-ride the overseas label.

  • When purchasing chemicals ensure you request the Manufacturers Safety Data Sheet from your supplier.

Very toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Avoid contamination of any water supply. Hazardous to terrestrial invertebrates.
Directions Do not make comb honey or beeswax from frames from treated hives available for human consumption or for use with food at any point
Do not suspend strips in honey supers 
Suspend 2 strips per brood chamber or 1 strip in nuclei colonies 
Suspend strips between combs in the central brood rearing area (e.g. between frames 3 and 4, and 7 and 8 in ten frame hives)
Remove after 6-8 weeks 
Do not apply more frequently than every 6-8 weeks
Treat hives before honey supers have been added or after honey supers have been removed
Should not be used during peak honey flow
Any honey extracted from the brood box must be tested for residues prior to sale for human consumption
Withholding period (WHP) Not required when used as directed
Storage Store locked up below 25 C out of direct sunlight and away from other pesticides
Disposal Dispose of according to local regulations or authorities. Burn used strips if circumstances, especially wind direction permit, otherwise bury with empty packaging in a suitable landfill
Record keeping Maintain records of all treatments performed under this permit. Details must include the date and locations where treatments occurred, the total amount of product used, and the names and addresses of the persons undertaking the use. These details must be maintained for a minimum period of two years from the date of expiry of this permit, and must be made available to the APVMA, or state department staff of the relevant jurisdiction, upon request
