Aluen CAP
Aluen CAP is a non-synthetic treatment for the control of Varroa destructor mites in honeybee hives.
Note:
This product is permitted for use in Australia.
It must be used in accordance with the permit conditions, which over-ride the overseas label.
When purchasing chemicals ensure you request the Manufacturers Safety Data Sheet from your supplier.

| Targets | Mites on adult bees, mites entering the hive | Chemical safety | Only to be handled in a well-ventilated area. Harmful if swallowed. Will irritate the nose and throat. Will damage eyes and skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When using the product, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing), gauntlet-length chemical resistant gloves and goggles. After use and before eating, drinking or smoking, wash hands, arms and face thoroughly with soap and water. After each day’s use, wash gloves, goggles and contaminated clothing. May cause allergy (contact dermatitis). Do not perform clean-up and maintenance activities in treated areas/hives or rehandle the strips unless wearing cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist (or equivalent clothing) and chemical resistant gloves and goggles. Clothing must be laundered after each day’s use. If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Phone Australia 131126. If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly. If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor. Do not contaminate wetlands or watercourses with this product or used containers. |
| Directions | For 8 – 10 frame hives – use 4 strips. For 5 – 6 frame nucleus hives – use 2 strips. Leave strips in place for 42 days, then remove from the colony. Method of Application: 1) Open the hive. 2) Perform approved surveillance action and record results. 3) Remove the strips from the package. 4) Fold gently every strip 5) Place strips over the top bars of the frames as follows; a. In 8-10 frame beehive place the strips over the top bars of frames 2, 4, 6 and 8 b. In 5-6 frame nucleus colonies place the strips over the top bars of frames 2 and 4 6) Remove the strips after 42 days. 7) Perform approved surveillance action and record results. All colonies of an apiary should be treated simultaneously. Do not re-use strips. Treatment can be done either at the beginning or at the end of the season. Treatment at the beginning of the season is carried out when the hive is developing and is ready for the honey super to be placed. Treatment at the end of the season is performed when the hive is preparing for winter, but there is still brood to be born. Do not use Aluen CAP Slow-Release Oxalic Acid Strips for Beehives over two consecutive treatment periods. The product must only be used once a year. For in-hive use only. |

| Storage | Store in the closed, original container below 30 °C (room temperature). Protect from light. Discard unused strips 24 hours after first opening the pouch. |

If an approved waste management facility is not available, dispose of empty container or unused product in compliance with relevant local, state or territory government regulations. Do not burn empty containers or product. |
| Record keeping | Maintain records of all treatments performed under this permit. Details must include the date and locations where treatments occurred, the total amount of product used, and the names and addresses of the persons undertaking the use. These details must be maintained for a minimum period of two years from the date of expiry of this permit, and must be made available to the APVMA upon request. |
